PICTURES OF AMAZING TREASURE TROVE FOUND OF UNTOUCHED TOYS FROM 60’S AND 70’S

From Star Wars figures to Action Man and Barbie, a treasure trove of old toys and games has been discovered in a North Wales shop which has been closed for years.

The Frank Beech Toy Shop first opened more than 70 years ago and was well-known in Holywell for its vast array of toys and popular window displays.

But in 2009 it closed its doors to the public, bringing to an end many decades of service since its opening by Frank Beech in the 1940s.

Amazingly, the contents of the store remained untouched and an auction house has now recovered 120 pallets of toys dating back to the 1960s, 70s and 80s.

These include boxes of Star Wars figures, Action Man and accessories, trains, Dinky cars, Timpo toys and Britains soldiers, dolls, tinplate and plastic, Airfix and many board games.

All the items are expected to appeal to collectors from across the country when they go on sale later this month at Vectis Auctions in Thornaby, Stockton-on-Tees.

Despite damp creeping into the shop and damaging some of the boxes, the company said the items remained in great condition.

A spokesman from the auction house said: “The items are likely to appeal to collectors and dealers as the toys have stood in the closed-up shop for many years.

“Our specialists are working through the collection one pallet at a time and so we could find many hidden treasures as the sale is uncovered.”

Last month a collection of 3,000 toy cars, trucks and trains went up for sale at the toy specialist auction house and fetched a total of £227,000.

And in February, £18,000 was paid there for a pristine Star Wars Boba Fett figure.

Arsene Wenger FURIOUS with Bendtner after 5 am prank calls.

 

Reports arising that Nicklas Bendtner the ex Arsenal striker had called Arsenal maestro Jack Wilshire and Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger with a 5 am rant off private number.

The news has emerged through social media as Wilshire has laughed the situation off but apparently Wenger is fuming with the Danish international, “Arsene Wenger received abusive calls at 5 am this morning, investigations are on going” said the club spokesman.

What was said in the rant is unknown and Wenger will probably be asked in due course.

This follows a stunt that Bendtner pulled in 2008 when he called for 15 pizza’s an Ambulance and a Chinese to the clubs Assistant managers home address and then stupidly admitted it to friends then eventually got back to the club the striker was punished.

The Danish Striker has just joined Wolfsburg.

Bendtner will wear the No 3 shirt at Wolfsburg, and admitted the reason for the low number, saying: ‘My mother chose the number for me.’
Nicklas Bendtner has joined Bundesliga club VfL Wolfsburg to end a nine-year association with English football.

The striker, who has scored 24 goals in 58 internationals for Denmark, has signed a three-year deal with an option for a further year at Wolfsburg, who finished fifth in last season’s Bundesliga to qualify for the group stages of the Europa League.

A free agent since his contract with Arsenal expired this summer, Bendtner also played for Birmingham City and Sunderland as well as spending a season on loan at Serie A side Juventus during their title-winning campaign in 2012-13.

Welsh Government plan for £50 spot penalties for smoking in cars with children.

 

Smokers who light up in cars carrying children could face £50 on-the-spot fines under plans published by the Welsh Government today.

The legal move aims to protect further the health of children and young people from the harm associated with exposure to second-hand smoke.

Welsh ministers are also seeking public views on whether they should legislate toban the use of e-cigarettes in private vehicles carrying children under 18. If approved, the measures could be in force in 2015.

The six-week consultation on the proposals, first announced by the First Minister and Health Minister in July, is being launched today.

The law change would create an offence to smoke in a private vehicle when childrenunder the age of 18 are present or, as the driver, fail to prevent smoking in the vehicle. This would be largely enforced by the police.

Smoking is to be the largest single preventable cause of ill health and premature death in Wales, causing around 5,450 in 2010.

First Minister Carwyn Jones said: “Some people light up in their cars and believe that opening the window will help disperse the smoke, however it simply blows back into the car. Children cannot escape from the toxic chemicals contained in second-hand smoke when travelling in vehicles.”

Health Minister Mark Drakeford added: “We believe the most effective way to eliminate this harm is to legislate.”

Research in July showed 84% of adults agreed smoking should be banned in cars carrying children but “a sizeable minority” of young people were still being exposed to second-hand smoke in cars.

Failure to pay the fixed penalty could lead to a maximum £800 fine. Failing to prevent smoking in a smoke-free vehicle could cost up to £10,000.

Islamic State extremists have discussed infiltrating the U.S. through its southern border with Mexico, a U.S. official said.

Francis Taylor, under secretary for intelligence and analysis at the Department of Homeland Security, told a Senate committee today that the Sunni militants have been tracked discussing the idea on social-media sites such as Twitter Inc. (TWTR)

“There have been Twitter and social-media exchanges among ISIL adherents across the globe speaking about that as a possibility,” Taylor said in response to a question from Senator John McCain, an Arizona Republican. Islamic State is also known by the acronyms ISIL and ISIS.

Referring to the 1,933-mile (3,110-kilometer) boundary with Mexico, Taylor said he was “satisfied that we have the intelligence and the capability at our border that would prevent that activity.”

Taylor’s comments before the Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee came hours before President Barack Obama was to outline in a speech plans to expand the U.S. offensive against Islamic State. Steps under consideration include blocking foreign fighters from entering Syria and Iraq, delivering more aid to moderate factions among Syrian rebels, and expanding air strikes to Islamic State targets in Syria.
Mexican Cartels

Taylor said the security of the U.S.’s southwest border remains a high concern for his department, and that Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson has ordered “a comprehensive southern border security strategy that will include national security risks.”

U.S. intelligence officials said they are skeptical that Mexican drug cartels would let jihadists use their turf or delivery routes to attack the U.S. The cartels know that terrorist attackers coming through areas they control would almost certainly bring massive retaliation and a militarized border that would threaten their lucrative narcotics-smuggling operations, said two officials, who requested anonymity to discuss classified intelligence assessments.

Officials testifying before the committee said that Islamic State currently poses the greatest threat to U.S. interests in Iraq and within the region. At the moment, the group’s ability to develop significant, large-scale attacks diminishes with distance from Syria and Iraq, plus the cartel leaders have vowed to kill any terrorist’s they see.
